- How can I contact you with any issues?
- This is version 1.0 of MCEE and we anticipate some bugs and crashes. We hope you will be patient with us as we continue to make MCEE better. If you are experiencing issues, reach out to us directly by emailing us at support@mcee.app so we can assist you.
- Can I use MCEE without putting my phone on Guided Access?
- Yes. There is no need for party guests to enter Guided Access mode, but without Guided Access, hosts will have to manually click to the next song using our MusicController view. You can access our MusicController feature by clicking the “Now Playing” cell, where, as a host, you can pause and skip the currently playing song. If you do not manually skip to the next song near the conclusion of each song, the current song will repeat or Spotify will select a random song or one based on your recently played songs in Spotify.
- Why do I need Guided Access in order to play songs automatically?
- Guided Access temporarily restricts an iPhone to a single app, and we highly recommend you turn it on when hosting a party. In September 2022, Spotify phased out support for their mobile streaming SDK and forced developers to adapt their iOS and Android applications to the App Remote SDK, which offloads playback complexity to Spotify. Because Spotify must already be operating in the background in order for playback to occur in MCEE, it is imperative that MCEE not be interrupted by other applications on the host’s device. Guided Access prevents MCEE from being interrupted.
- Why are the songs in the queue not automatically playing next?
- Check that you are using Guided Access. If this event occurs, it may mean that you did not put your phone into Guided Access mode and left the app for an extended period of time. This results in the Spotify background connection to be disconnected. Or, something disconnected your Guided Access (e.g. phone call). If this is the case, you will have to manually skip to the next song near the conclusion of each song.
- How can I reestablish connection to Spotify when at a party?
- You can’t. If Guided Access is severed, connection with Spotify will eventually be broken, you will have to manually click to the next song using our MusicController view, which can be accessed by clicking on the “Now Playing” cell.
- How do I know if Guided Access is disconnected?
- The song that plays next will not align with the expected song from the queue. Typically, the current song will repeat or Spotify will select a random song or one based on your previous listening within the Spotify app.
- Why is there no audio playing when I host a party?
- You did not have a song playing in Spotify when you were setting up the party. This is essential in establishing the connection between MCEE and Spotify correctly. If you have a song paused on Spotify, MCEE will not work correctly. A song must be playing from Spotify in the background before starting the party.
- Can I use MCEE if I do not have a Spotify Premium account?
- You can vote on songs during a party, but you do not have the ability to request songs. Similarly, you are not able to host a party.
- Why is my device not showing up when connecting to Spotify during the host process?
- You did not open Spotify and start playing a song before you hosted a party. This establishes the connection between MCEE and Spotify, and is required to start a party as a host.
